The McGraths are the descendants of the Mag Raith or Mac Graith septs, found at Termin McGrath on the river Termin on the borders of Counties Donegal and Fermanagh and in County Clare. McGraths can be found in every county in Ireland and in all they are estimated to number ten thousand persons, thus constituting one of the hundred commonest names in Ireland, being placed fifty-fifth in the list. The greatest concentration of McGraths can be found in Counties Tipperary, Waterford, Clare and Tyrone.
