Logan Gaelic: Loganaich or Macgill’innein Motto: Hoc majorum virtus Badge: Furze Lands: Lothian Berwickshire, Easter Ross Name Origin: Placename, Lothians Famous Logans: The Logan name is most likely derived from the Gaelic word "lagan" (little hollow) which became parts of place names in various parts of Scotland. The early Lowland Logans originated from Galloway. The most famous Logan is Sir Robert Logan, who was killed in Spain in 1329 on his way to the Holy Land with the heart of King Robert I (the Bruce) after the wars of Independence. At one point they were a very powerful clan in Scotland, until they picked on one too many other clans, and were all slaughtered in one battle. The clan crest is the human heart being pierced by the nail of passion and their battle cry is "Druim-nan deur!" (The ridge of tears).
